Depression and mental health charity AWARE is hosting a free conference for employers on Thursday 31 March from 2-4pm. The event entitled, Depression – What Works, will focus on the importance of maintaining the mental, as well as physical wellbeing of employees and will get practical support from key business and health professionals.

AWARE Chief Executive, Siobhan Doherty said, “Mental illness is costing the economy almost £31 million each year so it should not be taken lightly. I would encourage businesses of all sizes and interested individuals to attend our conference and find out what they need to do to address the largest single reason for abnteeism in the workplace.”

One company that will be highlighting its experience of working with AWARE to break down the stigma associated with mental health in the workplace is construction company, Heron Brothers. SHEQ  Co-odinator for Heron Brothers, Caroline Hughes who will be speaking at the conference and sharing her experience working with AWARE is pictured with Tom McEneaney of AWARE.
